ok, so I’ve had my Torch 9800 for a few months now. So far so good. I even joined some BBM groups.
My biggest mistake was pay notice to the “update available” icon, and performed a live system update. The first thing that came-up after the system was upgraded and rebooted, was the dialog box asking me to upload my calendar to the BBM groups. There was only two options for the user to answer: “yes” or “no”. However, when I pressed “no”, the same dialog box came-up again.
Essentially the user is forced to choose “yes” (upload all my personal calendar to RIM).
The only response I could do was to pull the battery out, wait for 5 minutes. I rebooted and quickly did a “Master Erase” of all my data. Even better, I then connected the Torch to my Mac and deleted all the RIM applications.
So here’s my question: is RIM so desperate that they are now doing the usual trick of “forcing” the user to press the ok button? Are they desperately needing calendars to expand their BBM services?
My next phone won’t be a RIM device.
